- Scope and ContentLyn Williams discusses her early family life, music education at the Conservatorium High School, musical inspiration taken from Scandinavian and Baltic singing traditions and the yearning for creative autonomy that led her to start Gondwana choirs. Williams talks about her involvement with the Sydney Children’s Choir, the Gondwana Indigenous Children’s Choir and Marliya singers. She also speaks about the potentially political nature of their work, the importance of choral music as an expression of culture, her approach to staging and production, the challenges and pleasures of working with school-aged children and the centrality of Gondwana’s activities to her life. The effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on choral performance also discussed.
