  • Scope and Content
    Richard Letts recounts his early life, learning piano, studying ophthalmology, then completing his tertiary studies at Sydney University in music composition, 1963, followed by a PhD in Education at University of California, Berkeley, 1971. He speaks about his career as a piano and music teacher, and his many director roles for various music boards and organisations.

    Letts discusses the social climate in the United States, when he lived in Minnesota and California during the 1970s and early 1980s, and the differences between Australian and American cultures. He discusses in depth the music scene in Australia, including government and private funding, management of musicians, various initiatives, education, policy and advocacy work; and reflects on his career and achievements.
