    Margaret Wallis talks about her parents, Arthur Henry Walker, the Forestery, Deputy Commissioner, and Frances Phyllis Walker/Godrey-Smith (nee McGee). She talks about her education at a Catholic secondary school and tertiary studies at University of New England and University of Sydney.

    Wallis discusses her career at Reader's Digest, initially as a galley-proof reader for three years in London, United Kingdom, and then a thirty year career at Reader's Digest in Sydney, New South Wales. She speaks in detail about her work in research, proof reading, editing, book and magazine publishing, management, relations with authors, and setting up the headquarters in New York, USA.

    Wallis discusses about her retirement and moving to Wallis Lake, Mid North Coast, New South Wales, with her second husband Dennis Wallis, and then to Newcastle. She talks about being introduced to The Women's Club by her mother and becoming a country member in 1998, taking advantage of its reciprocal accommodation facilities. Wallis talks about her roles as a hostess, representative of country members, a Board member, 2015-2016, Vice-President, 2017-2019, and being on the human resources and finance committees. She also discusses the history and changing nature of the club.
