  • Scope and Content
This miniature book contains a bible verse selected from the Old and New Testaments of the King James Bible for each day of the year. It was presented to George Ernest Morrison in March 1884 when he was 22 years old by his youngest sister Hilda (Evelyn Hilda Morrison) who was six years old. Hilda gave it to her brother just before he travelled to Edinburgh for surgery to remove some spear fragments (see Item 13 in this series). It has a wallet-type clasp, approximately 120 pages, and gilded page edges. Its title ‘Small Rain upon the Tender Herb’ is taken from a verse from Deuteronomy 32:2. It is the thirty-fourth edition, published by the Religious Tract Society c. 1851-1860 at their location at 56, Paternoster Row, London.
