    Brenda Gifford (1967- ) is a First Nations, Yuin woman from the Wreck Bay area on the south coast of New South Wales. She is a classically trained saxophonist and pianist and a contemporary classical composer. Gifford performs solo and with other jazz, classical and rock musicians and has toured Australia and internationally. During the 1980s and 1990s she was a member of the band ‘Mixed Relations’ with Bart Willoughby and collaborated with Kev Carmody. She has since worked for the National Film and Sound Archive and has completed a Masters in Composition in the Women in Composition program at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. She currently creates music for ensembles, orchestras, choirs, dance performances, festivals and concerts. Her music has been performed at the Sydney Opera House and internationally.
