    ​Gwenneth Evelyn Bennett, (née Chambers) was born in Sydney, 1937. Bennett has been a key figure in the national development of Australian music for over 50 years, principally in radio (ABC and community music networks), as board member and chair of various organisations, and her support for Australian composers and their music. She has worked for the ABC as producer, presenter, program planner and eventually manager of ABC Classic FM, and has been involved with various activities and board memberships including Sydney’s fine music community radio 2MBS-FM. Bennett was awarded Long-term contribution to the advancement for Australian music for her 50 year career in music by APRA, 2009.
