David Keith Williamson AO is an Australian dramatist and playwright. He has also written screenplays and teleplays. His first full-length play The Coming of Stork, later became the film Stork, directed by Tim Burstall. In 1972, his play The Removalists won the Australian Writers' Guild AWGIE Award. He was the first person outside Britain to receive the George Devine Award for an original play, and his many other awards include 12 Australian Writers' Guild AWGIE Awards, five Australian Film Institute Awards for Best Screenplay and, The United Nations Association of Australia Media Peace Award. - Subject
