  • Scope and Content
    Lyla Cross talks about her early life, born in Tatura, Victoria, 1939 and her parents background. She talks about her upbringing after her father passed away when she was five years old. Cross talks about leaving school at 14 years, and working in a small family business, and later as an air steward for Australian National Airways for four years.

    Cross discusses her marriage with civil engineer, Frank Cross, and bringing up their four sons, living in Canberra, Hawaii, Borneo, New Guinea and New Delhi, India, due to her husband's posting in the army. She talks about moving to the Central Coast, New South Wales when her husband retired and she ran an antiques shop there for fourteen years.

    Cross talks about her membership to The Women's Club from 1987 and the value of making lasting friendships there. She discusses her roles as Duty Hostess, Secretary from 2002, and later as Vice President until 2012. She speaks about the circles she attended, the history, traditions and hopes she has for the Club.
