  Autograph letter signed, from Louis de Freycinet to his sister-in-law Clémentine de Freycinet at Rochefort, sent from Souillac, 9 September 1839 (4 pages on a single folded sheet, postmarks, with Laage archive stamp, Dossier 240-51). Written during a visit to his younger brother Casimir de Freycinet in Souillac where he is relaxing after completing the “Historique” section of his account of the Uranie voyage, “cet affreux cauchemar qui m’a tormenté pendant un grand nombre d’années de ma vie…” (“this terrible nightmare that has driven me mad for a great many years of my life”).
