Jeanne 'Clémentine' de Freycinet (1795-1876), née Bérar, daughter of Captain Claude René​ Bérar (1767-1837), ​married Henri de Freycinet in February 1815 in Rochefort. They had two sons, Louis René (Lodoïx) de Freycinet ​(1820-1877)​, born in Rochefort, and Charles Henri de Freycinet ​(1823-1881)​, born on Île Bourbon [Ré​union]. Both sons reached the rank of Rear Admiral in the French Navy. Clémentine and Henri entrusted Rose and Louis de Freycinet with the care of Louis René (Lodoïx) in Paris, from 1827 (aged 7) until his parents returned to France in 1830.
