  • Scope and Content
    Memorial plaque honouring Arthur Gardere Ferguson. Issued to next-of-kin of servicemen killed in the war. It shows Britannia holding a trident and standing with a lion. In her left hand she holds an oak wreath above a rectangular tablet bearing Ferguson's name. Two dolphins swim around Britannia and at the bottom a second lion is tearing apart the German eagle. Around the rim are the words "He died for freedom and honour". Designed by Edward Carter Preston, ca. 1920.
