Mahmoud Jaame was born in 1958 in Cairo, Egypt. He studied and taught mathematics at university there. He migrated to Australia in 1990, and works part-time as a mathematics lecturer at the University of New South Wales, Sydney, where he is also a chaplain at the Religious Centre.
