  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Mohammad Hussein Al-Ansari was born in 1952 in Amara, Iraq. He completed an engineering degree at Baghdad University in 1974, followed by Islamic studies in Iraq and Iran. After narrowly escaping death several times under Saddam Hussein's regime, he travelled with his family to Malaysia, then Indonesia, and finally to Australia by boat in 1999. The family was detained at Curtin Detention Centre in Western Australia and then moved to Sydney. As Ayatollah, he teaches at Al-Rasool al-A'dham Mosque in Bankstown.
