Augusta Merewether was the sister of David Scott Mitchell, benefactor of the State Library of New South Wales. She was married to Edward Christopher Merewether.

Edward Christopher Merewether was a public servant and company superintendent. He was the brother-in-law of David Scott Mitchell through his marriage to Mitchell’s sister Augusta.
