- Scope and ContentVolume 1 includes drawings of eagles, falcons, hawks, kestrels, goshawks, buzzards, kites, harrier, owls, night tar, tawny frogmouths, goat-suckers, swallows, Australian swift, martins, Australian bee-eater, Australian roller, Laughing Jackass [i.e. kookaburra], kingfishers, halcoyons, genus pardalotus, shrike [magpies], butcher birds, pied grallina, greucalus, campephaga [shrikes/thrush], pachycephala, thick-head, drongo, fan-tails, fly-catchers, and gerygone. Many plates have more than one drawing on each page.
Each drawing is followed by a page with the scientific name of the bird; with volume and page number.
