  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Silvester Diggles, naturalist, artist, musican, and photographer was actively involved in the cultural and scientific development of Queensland and was one of the founders of the Queensland Museum and the Queensland Philosophical Society. Diggles arrived in Sydney from England in 1853 and moved to Brisbane the following year. He worked as an instructor in drawing and music and had strong interests in ornithology and entomology.
