Isak Lips, formerly Lipszyc, born in Lodz, Poland, 1920. During war: moved East with Polish Army under bombardment from invading Germans, returned and forced into Lodz Ghetto, transported to Auschwitz, then Dachau, concentration camps, escaped from train headed for Switzerland under U.S. bombing, liberated by Americans. After war: rehabilitation in Displaced Persons hospital at St Ottilien, Germany, for 1 1/2 years, learnt trade in Munich through help of ORT (Organization for Rehabilitation and Training).
