- ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY
Jaroslav (Jerry) Rind was born in Sudomerice (Czechoslovakia) in 1924. From 1938 he and his family lived under German occupation and then in 1942 were transported to Terezin (Theresienstadt). In 1944 Jerry was transported to Auschwitz-Birkenau and a month later to Gleiwitz, a subcamp of Auschwitz. Then he was marched from Gleiwitz and when he could go no further and expected to be shot, the guards left suddenly to avoid the incoming Russian Army. Jerry managed to crawl to Blechhammer concentration camp where he was discovered by his father. He returned with his father to Prague and was reunited with his sister and cousin. Jerry migrated to Australia via Italy in 1949. - Copying ConditionsIn copyright:
