Judith Nachum, nee Lachowicz, was born in Teplitz-Schoenau (Czechoslovakia) in 1928. When the Germans occupied Teplitz and Sudetenland in 1938, her family moved to Prague. Her father lost his job and left to go to Palestine. Judith remained in Prague until 1942 when she was sent to Theresienstadt concentration camp with her mother and sister in 1942. She was then transported to Auschwitz in 1944.

In October 1944, Judith was sent to Oederan, a subcamp of Flossenburg concentration camp (Germany). She was then evacuated and returned to Theresienstadt in May 1945. After the war she returned with her mother and sister to Prague. They lived there together until 1948 when Judith left for Israel. Judith emigrated to Australia in 1961.
