Olga Horak, nee Rosenberger, was born in Bratislava, Czechoslovakia, 1926. In March, 1942, her sister was taken away to Auschwitz. Then her family fled to Budapest (Hungary) illegally. After the German invasion of Hungary in July, 1944, Olga and her family returned to Bratislava. They went into hiding but were denounced and in August sent to Auschwitz. From here Olga went to a labour camp in Kurzbach, Germany. In January 1945, camp inmates were marched 250 kilometres to Grossrosen and from there moved to Bergen Belsen. When Bergen Belsen was liberated by the British army in April 1945, Olga returned alone to Bratislava. She married John Horak in 1948 and escaped to Zurich, Switzerland with him. They emigrated to Australia in 1949. - Copying ConditionsIn copyright:
