Nicholas Halmay born in Kosice, Czechoslovakia in 1922. Between 1943 and 1944 he was put to work in various camps in Hungary and Austria. In March 1945 Nicholas was sent to Mauthausen until April when camp inmates were marched to Gunskirchen where he survived until the Americans liberated the camp in May 1945. When the war ended Nicholas spent several weeks in hospital near Linz and then returned to Kosice via Budapest. He migrated to Australia in 1957. - Copying ConditionsIn copyright:
