    Ilona Blair, nee Reichman, was born in 1929 in Uzhorod, Czechoslovakia. From 1939, when the Germans moved in to her home town, Ilona was confined to a ghetto until 1944. She was then transported to Auschwitz and later to Hamburg where she underwent forced labor. In February 1945 she was sent to Bergen Belsen until it was liberated by the British in April 1945. At this point Ilona was sick with typhus and was sent by the British to Sweden until 1948. From 1948 until 1950 Ilona lived in Paris. She emigrated to Australia 1951.
