    William Strutt, b. England 1825, d. England 1915; lived in Victoria for 12 years, 1850-1862. A portrait and history painter, he depicted scenes of Ballarat goldfields, bushfires, bush life, portraits, animals, the Burke and Wills exploring expedition, Aboriginal and other mounted police and other portraits. His work is a pictorial record of the colony for the period.
