  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Rose Robison was the daughter of Thomas Pyne an accountant of Bridport. She, married George Augustus Robinson on the 4th June 1853 at St George’s Church in Hanover Square. The Robinsons lived on the Continent, mostly in Rome and Paris, until about June 1858, when they returned to England in 1859 and settled in Bath.
    This painting is discussed in Robinson's Papers at A 7087 part A, which is the source of the attribution and date. The portrait was painted in Rome in 1853. Robinson also commissioned a portrait of himself which is at ML 27.
