    Objects - 1 white wax relief medallion mounted onto blue velvet, encased in rectangular muskwood [?] cushioned frame with glass front, gilt slip, and graduated gilt inner border. Attached to top of the frame are two brass rings as hanging mechanism. - 9 x 6.4 cm. (image, sight) ; 30.2 x 28.2 cm. (frame)

    This portrait medallion is one of eight casts of John Franklin by Theresa Walker known to exist. It based on an earlier portrait of John Franklin sculptured in 1820 by the French-British artist, David D'Angers, being the same size. -- Reference: Colonial sisters : Martha Berkeley & Theresa Walker, South Australia's first professional artists / Jane Hylton.     The frame was most likely executed by Robin Lloyd Hood.
    A crack is evident from the back of the sitter's head across the neckline.
