  • Scope and Content
    1. Metal case, rectangular in shape with hinged lid and semi-circle at centre top to allow for storage of wax seal casing. Stored in the case were documents (listed below) and two circular containers each with wax seals. The larger seal has text in Latin around the circumference and a shield in the middle bearing designs of a Scotch thistle, a cross with an opened book in the centre, and castle. The second and smaller seal, also has Latin text around the outside with a man's head in profile in the centre.

    3. Award addressed to David Ramsay for passing his exams, written on vellum in Latin, from the "Collegu Regu Chirugorum Edinensium", 1816
    4. Certificate of obstetrics from the Artis Obstetriciae for David Ramsay, Dec. 22nd 1816

    7-12. Strips of paper, rectangular shaped, with two columns of sixteen rows of numbers, ranging from No.1 to No.63. Possibly used as part of examination process.
    13. Copper plate, rectangular shaped, engraved with "Dr David Ramsay", for printing business or calling cards
