    Photographs - 1 hand-coloured daguerreotype, 1/4 plate, in pinchbeck frame with glass front, stored in red velvet-lined Eickmeyer case with gold painted border around edges, with two bass hooks and eyelets for closing mechanism - 9.2 x 6.7 cm. (portrait, sight) ; 12.2 x 9.4 cm. (case, closed)
  • Scope and Content
    The female in this portrait wears a pale lavender-pink silk taffeta dress comprised of a long-line pointed bodice with band of shirring at waist above a full skirt, having flounces with scalloped edges arranged a' desposition. Open sleeves are shirred at the shoulder and gathered in a tiered arrangement above white cotton undersleeves or engageants trimmed with broderie anglaise and probably matching the lace collar, worn with a pattered ribbon lappet fastened at the neck with cameo. Sitter wears a wedding ring and a long black ribbon necklet, possibly with pocket watch attached.

    Identified as Edwin Dalton's work from comparison with studio furnishings with portrait of [Eleanor Elizabeth Stephen, ca. 1854] located at MIN 194.
