    David Ramsay was a medical practitioner and merchant. He was born in Scotland and visited Sydney in 1820 on the Surry. He returned in 1821 and 1823 when he established an import-export business with Thomas Raine. He married Sarah Lord, daughter of Simeon Lord, in 1825.
