Mathilde Marchesi was the singing teacher of Nellie Melba in Paris. (Pietro Cecchi had been Melba's teacher in Melbourne, but Melba and Marchesi did not recognise him once she was famous.)
Rosina Sydna was a singer from Sydney, trained by Marchesi. Her real name was Rosina Pinhey.
