Albums - 1 sketchbook (c. 58 pencil - watercolour drawings) - 20.5 x 27 x 1.5 cm.
Scope and Content
The sketchbook contains coast profiles and scenes of places visited by Brierly from 15th May to 7 July 1848 including Northumberland Group, Percy and Hope Islands, Cape Upstart, Palm Island, Sharp Peak, Cape Tribulation, Cumberland Islands, Gloucester Island, Mount Hinchinbrook, Palm Island, Pentecost Island, and the Whitsunday passage. Includes watercolour and pencil sketch, "Gloucester Island distant 8 miles / May 19 1848, 11.30am."; and "The first-round of Angles / Mound Island / Rock... [i.e. Rockingham] Bay / May 29th 1848" with pencil sketch at upper left, "Small Island off Cape Sand wich / 21 May 1848".
