    This album was compiled by Caroline Le Souef (nee Cotton) who was a painter and decorative artist. It contains several drawings by her father, John Cotton, who was an amateur photographer, ornithologist, and artist.

    Some drawings and verse are signed "A.E.M"
    [River bank] is signed and dated "J. Cotton 1848"
    Other drawings by John Cotton are identified by a later hand
