From the papers of George Augustus Robinson. While at Macquarie Harbour in May 1833 Robinson employed Gould to paint portraits of the Aborigines views of the settlement and an 'history picture' of Robinson bringing into Macquarie Harbour members of the Port Davey tribe; see N.J.B. Plomley ed. "Friendly Mission", Tasmanian Historical Research Association, 1966 pp. 718, 731, 809 & 812. Robinson's papers are in the Mitchell Library.
