  • Scope and Content
    1. Photographs: views of Annandale House, Sydney with members of the Johnston family (copies included) ca. 1870-ca. 1890. A newscutting from 'The Town and Country Journal, 19 April 1905 is also included. Seven of the photographs were taken by Charles Bayliss.
    2. Gold embossed leather bound volume of 12 reproductions of "Australian Historical Pictures" from paintings by John Allcot at the request of Douglas Hope Johnston and published in sepia by A.J. Kent, Government Printer, N.S.W. Included in the album are 6 reproductions of other works by John Allcott as well as notes and newscuttings. (i) The Old Flag unfurled on a New Shore [Port Phillip, 1802]. (ii) The Ship that put Australia on the Map [H.M.S. "Endeavour"]. (iii) The Ship and Men that made Anniversary Day [H.M.S. "Supply"]. (iv) The Founding of Queensland & Birth of Brisbane. (v) The Founding of South Australia. (vi) The Founding of Western Australia. (vii) The First of a Glorious Line [H.M.S. "Roebuck"]. (viii) H.M.S. "Lady Nelson". (ix) The First Missionary Ship to visit the South Pacific Islands ["Duff"]. (x) The Founding of Tasmania and the Birth of Hobart.
