  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Frederick Samuel Ellis Holt (1846-1902) was the eldest son of Thomas Holt. Under his father's will he acquired the property of Salisbury Plains near Bowen in Queensland and he became tenant-for-life of the Sutherland estate which was leased to the Holt-Sutherland Estate Land Company Ltd. F.S.E. Holt lived at Sutherland House from 1881 to 1894 when he leased the house to be run as a sanatorium.
