When Thomas Holt died in 1888 trusts were set up in England and in Australia to administer his will. The Australian Trustees comprised Holt's three sons, with Frederick S.E. Holt as chairman, together with Thomas Holt's long term friend and adviser Samuel Cook. In 1891 an agreement was reached with the Perpetual Trustee Company to take over the Trust and this was effected in 1893.
