Chantal Celjan studied a Graduate Diploma of Information Management, Archives Administration at the University of New South Wales, circa 1994. As a course requirement, she completed an extensive assessment of the Hibernian Friendly Society archives.
The Hibernian Friendly Society, in 1991, evolved from the Hibernian-Australasian Catholic Benefit Society, established 1871. The society was established by a group of Irish immigrants with the purpose to provide hospital, sickness and funeral benefits and support through insurance style subscriptions.
