During these interviews, conducted over two days at his home in Woolloomooloo, Michael Kelly talks with great freedom of his early life, the events and relationships that led to his decision to attend art school at 29 years old, his career as an artist and the creation and importance of his sketchbooks.

Michael Kelly is an Australian artist currently living and working in Sydney. After beginning his studies at East Sydney Technical College (now National Art School), he graduated from the Victorian College of the Arts in 1987. Since then, he has held 16 solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group exhibitions in Australia and overseas.
