  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

Cadbury originated in 1824 in Birmingham, England, as a grocer's shop selling cocoa and drinking chocolate. By 1861, John Cadbury's sons Richard and George expanded the business into chocolate production. The company introduced Dairy Milk chocolate in 1905, which quickly became a popular product. In addition to its operations in England, Cadbury established a factory in Claremont, Tasmania, in 1921. In 2010 Cadbury was acquired by Kraft Foods (now Mondelez International).
