  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

Laurie Richards was born in 1907 and began his career as a photographer working for the Advertiser newspaper in Adelaide, and the Argus and the Herald in Melbourne. In 1953, he established a photographic studio at his home at 4 Tower Avenue, Alphington, Melbourne, which enjoyed great success with commissions for commercial photography. Richards' business specialised in photography for advertising and public relations, working extensively for the radio, television and music industries. He retired in 1976 and the Laurie Richards Studio closed in 1991. He died on 21 August 1985.

Brylcreem is a British brand of hair styling product first manufactured in 1928 by County Chemicals in Birmingham, England. The British pharmaceutical firm Beecham was the longtime owner of Brylcreem until 1993 when the SmithKline Beecham unit was acquired by Sara Lee. In 2012, the global rights were sold to Unilever. The Beecham Group went defunct in 1989.
