    Penny Sharpe (1970- ) is a New South Wales Labor Party politician and has been a Member of the NSW Legislative Council since October 2015. As the first openly gay woman and lesbian mother to be elected to NSW Parliament, Penny has played a key role in advocating for queer rights.

    In March 2023 she was appointed Leader of the Government in the NSW Legislative Council. At the time of the interview she was Minister for Energy and Climate Change, and Minister for the Environment and Heritage.
