    Aage Herman Levin was born in Faaborg, Denmark on 15 February 1914. On 7 October 1937, he married Gerda Balle Jensen (born 27 August 1913) and they had a daughter, Mitzie (1930-?). In 1954, they emigrated to Australia, arriving in Fremantle on 6 May. By September 1954, they had moved to Sydney and opened the Copenhagen restaurant at 8a Hughes Street, Potts Point. After eight months, it moved to larger premises at 44 Macleay Street, Potts Point. Aage Levin died on 25 September 1977. Gerda Levin was granted Australian Citizenship on 28 August 1980 and was living at 26 Bluegum Crescent, Frenchs Forest. Mitzie Levin later married and emigrated to the United States, joined by Gerda who later died there.

    Donor was neighbours with the Levin family and the scrapbooks passed to him through his mother who was friends with Gerda Levin.

    Scrapbook 1
    Photographs and ephemera from London; the train and steamer S.S. Oronsay travels to Australia of Aage, Gerda and Mitzie Levin. Includes photographic prints and ephemera from London pre-departure and ports in Gibraltar; Naples, Italy; Port Said, Egypt; Aden, Yemen; Colombo, Sri Lanka and Fremantle, Western Australia. Dated 11 April 1954 to 6 May 1954.

    Scrapbook 2
    Levin family's arrival in Perth and travels to Sydney via Adelaide and the opening of the Copenhagen restaurant in Potts Point, Sydney. Includes tickets, tourist and learn English brochures, newspaper clippings, menus and business cards. Dated 7 May 1954 to 19 July 1955.

    Scrapbook 3
    Newspaper clippings advertising David Jones and other retail establishments in Sydney; indenture, loan and insurance for the purchase of 8a Hughes Street, Potts Point (to become the Copenhagen restaurant). Dated 14 August 1954 to 13 December 1956.

    Scrapbook 4
    Christmas, birthday, Mother's Day and Father's Day cards, predominantly for Mitzie Levin, and also Aage and Gerda Levin. Photographs of family members posing around Sydney, including at the Sans Souci Restaurante. Dated December 1954 to 1955.

    Correspondence, invitations and newspaper clippings about Aage Levin, the Copenhagen restaurant and its grand reopening at 44 Macleay Street, Potts Point in 1955. Also includes a photograph of Mitzie Levin in a living room. Dated 4 April 1954 to 14 October 1955.
