    Arthur William Christopher Ford was born on 26 November 1889 in Sydney and was apprenticed as a clerk in the Government Printing Office in 1902 and worked there until 1953, for many years as overseer of the Photographic Branch. His photographs were exhibited from about 1912 both locally and internationally and, in 1917, he joined the Sydney Camera Circle. He died on 1 September 1965.

    Exhibited by the Sydney Camera Circle at the Kodak Salon, Sydney, 14 to 28 February 1921. Previously sold on eBay before being acquired by the vendor.
  • Scope and Content
    Two silver gelatin photographic prints of cattle drovers taken by Arthur Ford.

    1. A drover on horseback herding cattle amongst trees, captioned on recto in lower left corner "Glen Innes-Grafton" and annotated on verso "Cattle droving near Grafton N.S.W".

    2. Three drovers and five horses watering at a river or lake with a herd of sheep in the background, annotated on verso "Drovers N.S.W.". This photo was published in The Queenslander, 15 January 1927, captioned "Droving sheep in Burragorang Valley".
