Edward Frederick Munster was born in Belfast, Ireland in 1832 and arrived in Melbourne, Australia on 12 December 1852 with his brother Ludwig (Louis) (1823-1861). He returned to Ireland and, in 1860, married Mary Caughey (1831-1929), with whom he had seven children: Paul Lovenorn Munster (c.1861-1932); Edward Frederick Munster junior (c.1862); Alexandra Mary Munster (1863-1946); Emma Letitia Munster (1866); William Henry Magnus Munster (1869-1936); Harold Valdemar Munster (1871-1917); and John Robert Debergh Munster (1872-1962). By 1882, he had taken up the 3004 acre property of Quandong at Boree Creek, New South Wales, which was used for grazing sheep and growing crops. On 10 November 1896, an extensive clearing sale was held to sell off farming equipment and livestock. Edward and Mary returned to Ireland in the 1890s where he died in Belfast in 1913 and she in 1929. Several of their children married and remained in Victoria.
