  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Ian Heads OAM (1943- ) is an historian, journalist, commentator, and author. He has covered Australian sport since the early 1960s as a sportswriter for newspapers and magazines such as Daily and Sunday Telegraphs, Rugby League Week, the Sydney Morning Herald and the Sun-Herald and was editor of Rugby League Week from 1981-1987. He has authored or co-authored over 50 books covering Rugby League, Tennis, Cricket, and the Olympic Games. As a cadet journalist Heads was mentored by Phil Tressider, Ernie Christensen, Mike Gibson, and Tom Goodman (a good friend of Sir Donald Bradman).
