Tim Curnow was born in Christchurch, New Zealand in 1944. He worked for A.H. & A.W. Reed Ltd, Publishers in Wellington and then in Sydney in 1970. Within a year of arriving in Sydney he became Managing Director and Literary Agent for Curtis Brown (Australia), representing authors, playwrights, poets, screenwriters, editors and publishers as well as managing literary estates. He remained with this agency for thirty years. He has also served on the Australia Council for the Arts and in late 2004 established the Tim Curnow, Literary Agent and Consulting business where he continues to represent a small list of writers and producers in Australia and New Zealand.

Margaret Leask, born in Armidale in 1949, worked as an arts administrator in Sydney and London before becoming an oral historian and performing arts historian. Since 2005 she has recorded more than 300 interviews for organisations including for the State Library of New South Wales, the National Library of Australia, the National Film and Sound Archive, the National Institute of Dramatic Art, the Sydney Theatre Company, Sydney Opera House, the Australian Theatre for Young People, and the Australian Elizabethan Theatre Trust (AETT).
