  • Scope and Content
    Bruce Shillingsworth explains his parents' Indigenous heritage, including the history of the Muruwari rain makers of his father's country, and recounts his early childhood in Enngonia, north of Bourke, New South Wales. He explains the importance of culture related to the river, connections with the land and spirits, and his relationship between Aboriginal and European cultures.

    Shillingsworth talks about his work as an education support with Bernardos, as an artist, and planning the 2019 Yaama Ngunna Baaka Corroboree Festival. He explains the importance of ancient fish traps, its lore, ownership and arrangements in Brewarrina nad many other Aboriginal nations. Shillingsworth discusses in depth of the story lines, totems and Aboriginal knowledges related to looking after the Darling River waterways and wildlife. He discusses the importance of passing down knowledge to both Indigenous and non-Indigenous people, and the personal and cultural impacts of the changing natural environment including recent events such as the 2019 NSW bush fires, Covid-19 pandemic and the cancellation of the 2020 Corroboree.
