This series comprises the letters and journals of Henry Kidd Harpur Esq (1817-1891) and his brother Josiah Harpur (1825-1898), as well as printed books belonging to the Harpur and Hassall families.

Diary relating to life in Ireland and Sydney as a newly arrived migrant, March 1839-August 1840.

Journal detailing the voyage from Liverpool, England to Sydney on the ship Brothers, first eight months in the colony and travel to Bathurst, 1840-1841.

Inside cover contains ms. annotation 'to my beloved nephew Roland Hassall Harpur from his loving aunt Eliza Harpur, Lindfield, 1st January 1906. Printed, with ms. annotations, 1056pp., in black binding
