  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Percy Benison was born in 1881 and lived and worked in Sydney as a cartoonist, comic book artist, illustrator and costume designer. He contributed to various publications including the Comic Australian, the Lone Hand, Home, the Australia Week-end Book and the Bulletin, and his works often featured women. He died in Cammeray, Sydney on 17 March 1972.

  • Scope and Content
    Two flyers relating to events for members of the Commercial Artists Association of N.S.W.

    Item 1: advertises "The Commercial Artists Association of N.S.W. 1st Annual dinner held at 'The Dainty', Hunter Street, Sept 4, 1916".

    Item 2: advertises "A Send Off to C. Bostock & C. Foley (who have enlisted for active service) by the Commercial Artists Assn. of N.S.W, held at 'The Dainty' Café, 19 March 1917", referring to Cecil Westmoreland Bostock and Conrad Hayford Foley who served in the Australian armed forces during WWI, held at 'The Dainty' Cafe on 19 March 1917. The flyer bears the signatures of sixteen member artists including Will Donald, J.H. Euemark, Con. Foley, George Elms, R.H. Moppett, G.W. Reed, Albert Collins, Harry Weston, C.W. Bostock, Sydney Ure Smith, G.C. Gearee and Walter Eassie.
