  • Scope and Content
In this interview producer John Frost discusses his modest Adelaide childhood, his passion to be part of musical theatre and the some 200 shows he has produced since forming The Gordon Frost Organisation in 1983.

In discussing his shows, he includes both his ‘flops’ and successes, including the Australian revival of ‘The King and I’ and his production of 'Hairspray', both of which won Tony Awards. He also speaks about the actors, directors and creatives he has worked with.

He shares his insight on issues such as how revivals of classic musicals must be adjusted to new times, arena and jukebox musicals, how sets and costumes are traded and union and backstage issues.

Frost finishes by talking about his financial and touring collaborations, notably with Opera Australia, as well as the way the COVID-19 pandemic affected the industry and his shows.
