2 albums containing 93 albumen photographic prints of the Johnston family, carte de visite format, some with hand colour, and one reproduction of a miniature. The photographs were created between the 1860s-1870s by various photographers including Oswald Allen, 500 George Street Sydney; J.T Gorus 101 King Street Sydney; and W Bradley, 140 Pitt Street Sydney.

Some photographs have pencil captions below the image, and the albums are accompanied by a partial typescript contents list, created by the donor.
